![]() ![]() With the RAM in consoles being split between the actual system itself and the graphics and the APU instead of a discreet CPU and GPU, the consoles aren't anywhere near powerful enough despite what you have done though lowering basically all the settings as low as possible. And second, a huge portion of the immersiveness would be lost.Įdit: The consoles may seem powerful, but that is the end result of a lot of optimization and work. So my two major points are, the game won't be able to run at all during more moderate events in SC. Making things look poor just to run it on weaker systems may enable you to play it, but you lose a lot of the feel and immersiveness that higher quality graphics will give you. A part of the reason to keep it so graphically intensive is the fidelity of the game. ![]() Sure it may be playable in the hanger, and when flying around a bit or even getting shot by one or two other ships, but when it gets to the note populated and larger areas with much more objects, you won't be able to play at all.Īnother reason is I don't think they want to dumb down the game at all. However you have to remember that there is going to be much more happening on the screen than the screenshots you've put up. I've taken a look at what you've done, and it's impressive. They wouldn't be able to run it very well at all. So what am I missing? Why would it be such a terrible idea for the game to end up on a console (assuming CR doesn't sell out to Microsoft or someone) ![]() Chris Roberts always seems to use an Xbox controller when demoing the game so it stands to reason the final game will have good support for such controllers. The game is already being built to be controller agnostic. PS4/XboxOne are made with standardised PC bits anyway these days so I imagine porting the game doesn't take as much work or compromise as it used to in the olden daysĪs I proved here by getting the game to run playably on my laptop with crappy integrated graphics ( ), Cryengine is extremely scalable, so if Chris Roberts did want to push the graphical fidelity even further for PC's, he wouldn't be held back by the consoles, and tbh, they seem pretty damn powerful anyway. We know the Cryengine works on consoles already, Ryse son of Rome is a good example, and it looks fantastic. More players to help make the universe feel alive! We aren't talking about filling Los Angeles ala GTA, we have a whole universe to fill! You can tell Chris Roberts is the type of guy who can never have too much money when it comes to building a game! More exposure = More backers = more funding = better game. ![]() First off, please don't bash me, I'm not a console player nor am I stating that it should be built for consoles, I'm merely asking why as I don't really understand the logic behind the decision and it seems like there are a lot of good reasons why the game should be available on consoles. ![]()
